How creatively can you tell a story?

Fresh Perspective invites you to experiment.

Forget the idea that a story has to look or sound a certain way. We want to see what happens when you take an idea, make it your own, and tell it from an unexpected angle.

Your submission could be a short film, talking-head video, animation, AI-generated video, illustrated story, recorded performance, visual essay, mixed-media piece—or something we have not even imagined yet.

The format is your choice. The perspective is yours.

What matters is how creatively you interpret the story.

Experiment with structure. Play with visuals. Challenge familiar ways of storytelling. Combine formats. Take risks. Surprise us.

Bring us something that feels distinctly you.

Choose Your Theme

Your story should explore one of the following themes:

  • Love & Romance

  • Independence

  • Climate Change

  • African Beauty Standards

  • Family

You do not have to approach the theme literally. Interpret it. Question it. Reimagine it. Find the angle other people might overlook.

Your work may combine film, animation, AI, illustration, performance, spoken word, photography, archive, graphics, sound or any other creative storytelling method.

Just make sure the final submission is delivered as a video.

This competition is open to everyone in Africa. This is bigger than a competition.
It’s about reclaiming memory. Start creating. Tell your story.

We will select 20 stories and inform creators by October 25th.

What Are We Looking For?

We are interested in fresh perspectives, creative choices and original storytelling.

You do not need expensive equipment or a large production.

A simple idea told brilliantly can be more powerful than an elaborate production.

We will be paying attention to:

Originality — Does your approach feel fresh?

Creative execution — How inventively have you used your chosen format?

Perspective — What unique angle are you bringing to the theme?

Storytelling — Does the piece engage, surprise, move or provoke us?

Experimentation — Did you take a creative risk?

What You Could Win

There is ₦50,000 up for grabs, and 20 of the most creative entries will be selected.
